Let's open the book and turn to page 1.

Floppy had not been for a walk.

“We should take Floppy out, ”said Mum. 

Floppy 还没有出去遛。 

“我们应该带 Floppy 出去遛遛。” 妈妈说。

Chip groaned, “Walking Floppy is boring.” 

Chip 抱怨道，“遛 Floppy 很无聊。”

Groan means you say something in a low, unhappy voice.

“Well, you could bring the boomerangs,” said Mum.

“好吧，你可以带上你的回飞镖，” 妈妈说。

What does a boomerang do?

A boomerang is a curved piece of wood which comes back to you if you throw it in the correct way.

回飞棒是一块弯曲的木头，如果你用正确的方式扔它，它会回到你身边。

Boomerangs were first used by the people who were living in Australia when Europeans arrived there.

当欧洲人到达澳大利亚时，生活在澳大利亚的人们首先使用回飞棒。

Biff threw her boomerang really hard. 

It flew up into the sky. 

Biff 把回飞镖使劲扔了出去。

它飞上了天空。

“I'll show them I'm not boring!” thought Floppy.

“I'll make them laugh.”

Floppy 心想：我要让他们看看我并不无聊！

我要把他们逗笑。

Floppy chased after the boomerang. 

Suddenly it turned in the air.

Floppy 去追回飞镖。

突然，它（回飞镖）在空中转了个弯。

Good job，Biff！

She threw the boomerang.

And now it turned back.

Suddenly the boomerang turned in the air.

And Floppy came to an abrupt stop.

Floppy turned as well.

突然，回旋镖在空中转弯了，

Floppy 紧急刹车。

他也转了个弯。

“Mind the pond!” shouted Mum. 

 “小心池塘！”，妈妈喊道。

Opps！

“Too late!” laughed Chip.

Chip 大笑道：太晚了！

What happened to Floppy？

Splash! Floppy landed in the pond.

扑通！Floppy 掉进了池塘。

“Oh Floppy, you're filthy!” said Mum. 

filthy means very dirty

“哎呀，Floppy，你真脏！”妈妈说。

Everyone laughed. 

Floppy was pleased.

每个人都大笑，

Floppy 很高兴。

Why was Floppy pleased? 

“At last I made them laugh,” he thought.

“起码我把他们逗乐了”，他心想。

make sb laugh 使某人发笑。

But，

Floppy was not so pleased when he got home.

当他回到家里时，Floppy 不再那么高兴了。 

What happened？

What did Mum want him to do?

Mum wanted to give him a wash.

妈妈想给它洗澡。 

“Let's use the hose-pipe,” she said.

她说：让我们用 hose-pipe（软管）给 Floppy 洗澡吧。 

“Oh no!” thought Floppy.

Floppy 心想：糟了！

Did Floppy like taking a bath?

He ran away.

Where was Floppy？

Floppy hid under Biff's bed. 

Floppy 藏在 Biff 的床下。

“Why do I need a wash?” he thought. 

“Dogs like being dirty.”

Suddenly, the magic key began to glow.

It was time for a new adventure.

突然，魔法钥匙发起光来。 

这是一个新的冒险的时候。

“Dogs don't have magic adventures by themselves, do they?” thought Floppy. 

Floppy 心想：狗们不单独去魔法历险，不是吗？

I think so, but...

“Well, it's better than a bath.”

Floppy 想着，额，好吧，它总比洗澡好。

take an adventure 总比洗澡好。

Where would the magic take him？

The magic key took Floppy to Australia.

It took him to a red desert. 

魔法钥匙带着 Floppy 去澳大利亚。 

魔法钥匙把他带到红色沙漠。

desert 沙漠

desert means：a large area of land that has very little water and very few plants growing on it. Many deserts are covered by sand.

沙漠呢，就是一大片几乎没有水和植物生长的土地。许多沙漠被沙子覆盖。

So where was Floppy?

He was in the desert.

The sand was hot.

It hurt Floppy's paws.

沙子很热。 

他弄疼了 Floppy 的爪子。 

Suddenly, a boomerang flew over his head. 

突然，一只回飞镖从它头顶上飞过。 

Whoosh! Another one landed next to him.

呼的一声，又一个（回飞镖）落在它身旁。 

Then Floppy saw some men.

“Go away you dirty dingo!” they shouted.

然后 Floppy 看到一些人。 

他们大叫这：走开，你这脏兮兮的丁格犬。

Floppy shocked.

Floppy 大吃一惊，怎么就把回旋镖扔向我了呀。

and he (Floppy) ran away. 

The men chased him. 

Floppy 逃走了。

人们追赶它。

He ran past some rocks.

“Quick!” said a voice. “Hide here!” 

它跑过一些岩石。

“快！”一个声音说，“藏这里！” 

The men ran past.

人们跑过去了。

Did they get Floppy?

No, they didn't.

They got away.

Behind the rocks were four dogs. 

They all laughed at Floppy.

岩石后面有四只狗。

他们都嘲笑 Floppy。

“What floppy ears!” said one of them.

他们中的一只说：耳朵真够耷拉的！

还记得 Floppy 名字的由来吗？

正因为他的耳朵耷拉着，

所以叫他 Floppy，耷拉着（的耳朵）。

瞧，另外几只小狗的耳朵是不是都是竖着呢？

They began to introduce themselves to each other.

他们开始自我介绍了起来。

“What's your name?” asked another.

“你叫什么名字？”另一只问道。 

“Floppy,” said Floppy.

“Floppy,” Floppy 说。
